Most athletes with a concussion will recover quickly and fully. But for some athletes, signs and symptoms of concussion can last for days, weeks, or longer. If an athlete has a concussion, his or her brain needs time to heal. In rare cases, repeat concussions can result in brain swelling or permanent brain damage. It can even be fatal. This training package will help you spot signs of concussion and take appropriate action.
The course is divided into seven accessible, interactive modules and also includes an assessment at the end. You will learn to:
- Understand a concussion and the potential consequences of this injury,
- Recognize concussion signs and symptoms and how to respond,
- Learn about steps for returning to activity (play and school) after a concussion, and
- Focus on prevention and preparedness to help keep athletes safe season-to-season.
The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. Once you have read and understood all of the course the ‘Take a quiz’ button will appear at the bottom of the timeline. You will be asked 10 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 75%. The answers are marked automatically so that you’ll instantly know whether you passed by checking your profile. If you don’t pass don’t worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
