I have a friend who is an account director. Lives in Southampton, commutes to Guildford. Doesn't finish work till six o’clock, starts at eight. Takes work home with him… he’s still going at midnight. You just think, ‘that’s not the life I want to lead’. I am not interested in that, thank you very much. People ask me why I’m still in the same job ten years on. I’ve been offered other jobs and turned them down because the working environment at the Union was better for my lifestyle, where I want to go, what I want to do. Being a Sabb lead to where I am now but it’s the organisation that has kept me here. I have a great team and we’re doing different things every day - no day is the same.
