I was a scout and then an explorer scout. I first joined brownies, but didn’t enjoy it because it was missing the element of adventure, so I joined the scouts with my cousins. We were the first girls to be a part of the group for years and years. My cousin, myself and my two friends got pretty well known for smashing all these competitions. Anything we would do, we would win. Being a scout completely shaped me as a person. I went to Sweden and Japan for their annual Jamboree, we would go camping and do survival training... it was so much fun. Everyone kind of takes the piss when you say you’re a scout. They say ‘oh that’s weird, you’re a nerd’ but it’s given me so many skills, now I can adapt to anything.
