Empowering Your Student Voice

We listen and act on your opinions and ideas

We listen and act on your opinions and ideas

As your Students’ Union, our primary function is to listen to you and help improve your student experience. We take a democratic approach to everything we do:

  • Through our Have Your Say programme you can submit an idea
  • Our annual elections ensure Student and Sabbatical Officers are elected by over 20% of the student body
  • Course Representatives are elected by your coursemates
  • You elect representatives to be your voice nationally at that National Union of Students conference

Academic Experience

The Union works with the University to ensure that you get the best University Experience possible - two ways we do this are the Quality Assurance report and the Teaching Awards.

Elections

Elections

Our Sabbatical and student officers change lives. Elected by students each year these roles are your channel for change in the University.

Latest Campaign: student fees

Students' Union is actively campaigning against the rise in tuition fees linked to the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The Union is affiliated to the National Union of Students

Annually the Union conducts a referendum as to whether we should be affiliated with the National Union of Students. The National Union of Students is the ‘national voice of students’. They represent more than seven million students through a confederation of 600 students’ unions and promotes, defends and extends student’s rights by championing students to shape the future of Higher Education.
