Introduction

Welcome to Study Aid! Brought to you by your elected Sabbatical Officers, Study Aid is here to help get you through to the end of term. We'll be running a range of activities to help you power through the month of May, share tips on how to stay focused and productive, and we'll also be about on campus to chat if you need us.

Quiet Study Spaces

In addition to Third Space in the Union (great for groups and space to spread out) the Union's meeting rooms are also available to students to study. Union spaces can booked at the Union's Shop & Reception, or if a room does not have a booking in place students are free to use the space for study.

VP Education & Democracy, Angel Layer, has arranged for additional rooms across campus to be open on weekdays during the exam period until the 1st June, to offer alternative quiet places to study:

  • Rooms 3.03 and 3.04 in Buckingham Building
  • Rooms LE 0.06, LE 1.03 and LE 1.04 in Mildam Buildin
  • Rooms 2.24, 3.13 and 3.19 in Park Building
  • Rooms 1.51, 1.65 and 1.66 in Portland Building

The Library and Sports & Recreation are joining forces to offer ten minute drop-in relaxation sessions on Thursdays. Learning to notice when you are becoming tense and finding ways to to relax and think clearly under pressure will make your study more effective and enjoyable.

Where and when?
To make it easier to fit into your busy day, these sessions are taking place in the Library Seminar Room 2 (Room 0.26), near the Support Services Desk.

Sessions run weekly on Thursdays from 22 March until the end of May. There will be three ten minute long sessions each day, starting promptly at 2.10 pm, 2.30 pm or 2.50 pm. Come to whichever you find most convenient and then apply the principles you learn whenever you find yourself becoming tired and tense.
