Whether you want to volunteer regularly, take part in a nationwide campaign or gain some real world work experience there are opportunities within the community through the Union and University. Increasingly employers are looking beyond your degree to what real world experience you have and the world of volunteering opportunities available at the University are guaranteed to open doors.

Volunteering In Portsmouth

VIP (Volunteering In Portsmouth) is our student-led group who undertake community volunteering projects. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in one off events such as Beach Cleans and Donation Days.

Work Experience

The University’s Careers and Employability Service volunteering team actively works with 140 local and national charities and non-for-profit organisations. They help with volunteering searches and applications, whether you are looking for experience that links to your course, career aspirations or addressing skills gaps in your CV.

Fundraising

Over the last 5 years students have raised over £1,000,000 for local and national causes. Whether you are holding a bake sale or trekking through Peru the money you raise benefits those in need and we're really proud of the amazing work our students do.

RAG Group

RAG stands for ‘Raising and Giving’ and they are the student fundraising executive committee at the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (UPSU).

RAG offer Portsmouth students once in a lifetime opportunities to do things like cycle from London to Paris, trek across the Andes to Machu Picchu and even climb Mount Kilimanjaro!

RAG runs lots of adventure challenges here in the UK for those of you who want to push the boundaries but don’t have the time to dedicate to our big challenges from the Three Peaks to charity Sky Dives.
